What is Children 1st?

Children 1st is a co-parenting program designed for families going through divorce or separation. This two-session course is officially recognized by the Monterey County Court as a certified parenting class. Additionally, a version of the program is available for children ages 5-18 whose parents have completed the course as well.

For Parents:

  • How divorce affects children at different developmental stages and strategies to support them.
  • Communicating effectively with both children and the other parent.
  • Navigating co-parenting and reaching agreements with the other parent.
  • Creating a parenting plan.
  • Problem-solving within the structure of new families.

For Children:

  • What occurs when divorce/separation happens?
  • Children are NOT to blame for the divorce.
  • Understanding the emotions and reactions that both children and parents may experience.
  • Tools and strategies to help children communicate and express their feelings with their parents.

Pay for Children 1st Below

For our Children 1st class, we will need the following form completed. There is a flat fee of $100.00 for both required classes. Participants must complete both classes in order to receive a certificate of completion.
